Abstract
Purpose
Active participation is critical to the survival and development of the multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game community. However, this issue has not received much attention in the information systems literature. To address this issue, we develop a tripartite model that accounts for the roles of behavioral dedication, constraint, obligation mechanisms on active participation in the MOBA community.
Design/methodology/approach
The research model is empirically validated by online survey data among 971 users of a popular MOBA community.
Findings
The results show that perceived enjoyment, perceived escapism, and affective commitment are key behavioral dedication factors, which further promote active participation in the MOBA community. In addition, past investment, self-efficacy for change, and calculative commitment are important behavioral constraint factors, which ultimately influence active participation in the MOBA community. Finally, subjective norm, group norm, social identity, and normative commitment are influential behavioral obligation factors, which in turn facilitate active participation in the MOBA community.
Originality/value
This study contributes to the theoretical understanding of active participation in the MOBA community and offers practical guidance for promoting active participation in the community.

Abstract
Purpose
Corrosion is one of the common damage mechanisms in many engineering structures such as marine structures, petroleum pipelines, aerospace and nuclear reactor. However, the service performance of metal materials and structures is gradually degenerating with the increase of service life due to the rapid growth of corrosion damages. Thus, the coupled effects for corrosion damage in reliability analysis should be considered urgently. Then, the purpose of this paper is to develop the corrosion damage physical model and the corresponding reliability analysis methods, which consider the coupled effect of corrosion damage.
Design/methodology/approach
A failure physical model, considering the coupled effect of pitting growth, crack and crack propagation, is presented in this paper. Sequentially, the corrosion reliability with respect to pitting physical damage can be investigated. The presented pitting damage physical model is formulated as time-variant performance limit state functions, which include the crack transition, crack growth and fracture failure mechanics. The first-passage failure criterion is used to construct the corrosion reliability framework, involving in the pitting damage model with the increase of service life.
Findings
Results demonstrate that the multiplicative dimensional reduction (MDR) method behaves much better than FORM no matter in accuracy or efficiency. The proposed corrosion reliability method is applicable for dealing with the damage failure model of the structural pitting corrosion.
Originality/value
The MDR method is used to calculate the corrosion reliability index of a given structure with fewer function calls. Finally, an aeronautical metal material is used to demonstrate the efficiency and precision of the proposed corrosion reliability method when the failure physical model considering the coupled effects of mechanical stresses and corrosion environment is adopted.

Purpose
This study aims to investigate the salt spray corrosion (SSC) and electrochemical corrosion of obtained Zn–Al coating, which provided a basis for comprehensive analysis of corrosion behavior of Zn–Al coating.
Design/methodology/approach
A Zn–Al coating was fabricated on Q235A steel using a Dacromet method. The SSC and electrochemical corrosion performances in 3.5 Wt.% NaCl solution were investigated using an SSC chamber and electrochemical workstation, respectively, and the corrosion mechanism of Zn–Al coating was discussed.
Findings
The Dacromet fabricated Zn–Al coating is primarily composed of Zn and Al phases, its residual stress of −11.1 ± 4 MPa is compressive stress, which is beneficial to improve its corrosion resistance. In the SSC process, the corrosion product of Zn5(OH)8Cl2H2O enhances the corrosion resistance of Zn–Al coating, which provides sufficient cathodic protection for the substrate. The corrosion potential of Zn–Al coating is lower than that of substrate, which provides sufficient cathodic protection to the substrate, the Zn–Al coating in the immersion periods is protected by the corrosion product and Zn–Al sheets.
Originality/value
In this study, a Zn–Al coating was first fabricated on Q235A steel using a Dacromet method.

Abstract
Purpose
Drawing on the social information processing theory, this study aims to adopt a moderated mediation model to investigate the mediation role of cognitive crafting and the moderation role of regulatory focus in the relationship between perceived deviance tolerance and employee innovative behavior.
Design/methodology/approach
A questionnaire study with 181 employees from a state-owned communications technology company in China was conducted through a two-wave survey, with a one-month lagged design. The model is tested through confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis and PROCESS bootstrapping program in SPSS24.0 and AMOS22.0 software.
Findings
This study confirms that perceived deviance tolerance is positively related to innovative behavior, while cognitive crafting mediates the relationship between perceived deviance tolerance and innovative behavior. Furthermore, the promotion focus positively moderates the relationship between perceived deviance tolerance and cognitive crafting, and higher promotion focus enhances the mediating effect of cognitive crafting on the relationship between perceived deviance tolerance and innovative behavior. The prevention focus negatively moderates the relationship between perceived deviance tolerance and cognitive crafting, and higher prevention focus weakens the mediating effect of cognitive crafting on the relationship between perceived deviance tolerance and innovative behavior.
Practical implications
Organizations need to establish a tolerant and inclusive management system and create a harmonious working atmosphere to provide a platform basis to inspire the innovative behavior of employees. Also, regulatory focus variables are suggested to be considered in organizational human resource management processes (e.g. recruitment and training) to improve organizational person–job fit.
Originality/value
The primary contribution of this study is to confirm that perceived deviance tolerance has a positive impact on innovation behavior and thereby providing a new perspective to understand the impact effect of perceived deviance tolerance. Another contribution the study explores the mechanisms and boundary conditions of perceived deviance tolerance on innovative behavior fills the theoretical gap of perceived deviance tolerance.

Abstract
Purpose
This study aims to address challenges in the distribution of social donations during epidemic emergencies, focusing on issues such as uneven distribution and material stacking. The goal is to propose optimized strategies that enhance equity and efficiency in the allocation of donated resources.
Design/methodology/approach
Firstly, the satisfaction function is constructed from two perspectives of the designated hospital and the Red Cross. On this basis, the fairness perception level of the two is portrayed. Then, we set the time weights, and construct a multi-objective programming model by combining the resource constraints in the social donation distribution process. The combined algorithm of NSGA-II and TOPSIS is also designed for model solving. Finally, an example of social donation distribution of the Red Cross Society of China Wuhan Branch is conducted for numerical analysis.
Findings
Numerical analysis reveals that timely transmission of demand information favors a demand-oriented distribution strategy for optimal efficiency. However, in scenarios with poor demand information transmission, an equal distribution of social donations proves to be a more effective strategy. Equal distribution ensures rapid allocation while minimizing perceived unfairness at designated hospitals, ultimately improving overall satisfaction levels and emergency response effectiveness.
Practical implications
The findings provide practical insights for emergency response planners. These include translating the developed methods into guiding principles, establishing real-time monitoring systems, enhancing training for relevant departments, and implementing evaluation mechanisms. Practitioners can utilize this knowledge to optimize the efficiency of social donation distribution during sudden outbreaks.
Social implications
The equitable distribution of social donations ensures efficient resource allocation and minimizes perceived unfairness, contributing to improved social satisfaction levels. This has broader implications for community resilience and support during emergencies.
Originality/value
This research contributes to the field by proposing a comprehensive model for optimizing social donation distribution in emergencies. The integration of fairness perception, time weights, and a multi-objective planning approach, along with the application of the combined algorithm of NSGA-II and TOPSIS, adds novelty and practical value to the existing literature. The study serves as a decision-making reference for enhancing emergency response theories in sudden event.

Abstract
Purpose
Wine producers and marketing professionals increasingly recognize the significance of online wine reviews. Emotions have long been acknowledged as influential in online review behaviors. However, considering the multisensory nature of the wine experience, consumers’ wine expertise also plays a substantial role. Hence, this study aims to examine the online review behaviors exhibited by wine consumers through the dual lens of wine expertise and emotionality.
Design/methodology/approach
Two studies were conducted to address the research question. Study 1 explored the relationship among expertise, emotionality and review behaviors using a panel data model, with a data set consisting of 4,600,922 reviews from Vivino.com. Study 2 used a multigroup structural equation modeling (SEM) analysis using data obtained from an online survey. Study 2 aimed to investigate the interactive impact of emotionality and expertise on online review intention mediated by customer engagement.
Findings
The findings from Study 1 demonstrated a positive correlation between emotionality and online wine reviews. In addition, expertise displayed a bell-shaped relationship with both emotionality and online wine reviews. Study 2, in turn, uncovered that novices and experts experienced a direct influence of emotionality on their review intentions. In contrast, for those classified as ordinary, the influence of emotionality on review intention occurred indirectly through the mediation of customer engagement.
Originality/value
This paper extends the current literature on online wine review by integrating the effect of emotion and expertise on online wine review behaviors, expanding the examination of Dunning–Kruger effect in the wine literature. It also adds value by introducing emotionality and the Evaluative Lexicon into the hospitality literature, extending the measurement of emotion from valence and extremity to a third dimension, emotionality, in hospitality and wine domains.

Abstract
Purpose
This paper aims to explore the relationships among local food consumption experience, cultural competence, eudaimonia, and behavioral intention. Building upon acculturation theory, need hierarchy theory and self-determination theory, the current study develops a conceptual model of local food consumption as international tourists’ acculturation process.
Design/methodology/approach
This study collects data from 305 Chinese outbound tourists and uses partial least squares-structural equation modeling to examine the developed model.
Findings
The findings reveal a significant effect of the local food consumption experience, consisting of novel, authentic, sensory and social dimensions, on cultural competence, which subsequently evokes eudaimonia and behavioral response toward local food. The mediating effect of cultural competence is also confirmed.
Practical implications
Destination marketers and restaurant managers should recognize local food consumption as a meaningful tool that contributes to tourists’ cultural competence and eudaimonic well-being during travel. They should strive to craft an indigenous consumption setting and provide employee training on the history and culture of local food, helping tourists understand local food customs and embrace different food cultures.
Originality/value
To the best of the authors’ knowledge, very few studies have attempted to examine the meaningful consequences of local food consumption through the theoretical lens of acculturation. This study dives into international tourists’ local food consumption and pioneers a conceptual model to capture how local food consumption experience provokes their eudaimonia and behavioral desires through the mechanism of cultural competence.
